Whether it is a catchy chorus that is completely stuck in your head, a chill lo-fi beat you need for studying, or an absolute anthem you want to hear ten times in a row, sometimes a single play just isn’t enough.

Back in the day, looping a track meant frantically hitting the replay button or hunting down unofficial “10-hour version” re-uploads. Fortunately, YouTube has built-in loop features across devices so you can keep your favorite songs playing on an endless cycle.

How to Loop a Song on YouTube

Depending on what device you are using, turning on repeat mode takes just a couple of clicks or taps.

1. On Desktop (PC or Mac)

  • The Quick Right-Click: Open the video you want to hear, right-click directly on the video player screen, and select Loop from the menu. A checkmark will appear, and the track will automatically restart when it ends. (Note: If your browser’s default menu pops up instead, right-click a second time).

2. On Mobile (iOS and Android)

  • Using the App Menu: Tap the video player, click the three dots (settings icon) in the upper-right corner, and tap Loop video.
  • On YouTube Music: Tap the repeat icon (two interlocking arrows) near the playback controls until a small “1” appears inside it, ensuring just that specific song repeats.

3. On TVs and Gaming Consoles

  • Press down on your TV remote or controller while the video is playing, navigate to the Repeat or Settings option, and select it until it indicates it is actively looping the current track.

Why Do We Love the Repeat Button?

There is a strange psychological comfort in looping a song. When a track hits the right emotional chord or provides a steady rhythm, replaying it creates a predictable, comforting environment. It acts as an anchor—whether you are locking in to focus on homework, trying to memorize lyrics, or just riding out a burst of inspiration.

The next time a track catches your ear, skip the manual replay hustle and let the built-in loop do the heavy lifting.
